South Africa Trek 2012
25th October - 3rd November 2012
At the southern end of one of the world's most exciting continents lies South Africa! Alive with wildlife, traditions and jaw-dropping landscapes we begin our journey in the vibrant capital of Cape Town! From there we head off into the bush for an unforgettable journey over mountain passes and open woodland before we return to celebrate by trekking the iconic Table Mountain. This will undoubtedly be one of the most rewarding and unforgettable experiences of your life!
Cape Town: On arrival in Cape Town we will transfer to our overnight accommodation.
Cape Town to Swartberg: We depart Cape Town early heading to the town of Oudtshoorn via the very scenic Route 62. We take a short hike to the beautiful Mellville waterfall.
Swartberg Hiking Trail: A short transfer to Ou Tol starts our day to day. We take the Kruin Route where we are treated to open woodland. We arrive at our spectacular home for the evening at Bothashoek Hut.
Swartberg Hiking Trail: We hike from Bothashoek Hut to Gouekrans Hut situated close to some fantastic rock pools taking in spectacular mountain terrain en route.
Swartberg Hiking Trail: We descend to De Hoek via the spectacular Plooiberg or “wrinkle mountain”. We enjoy our last night out in the bush before returning to Cape Town tomorrow with a traditional South African braai, known to us as a BBQ.
Transfer to Cape Town: We make our way back to Cape Town. The afternoon will be free to explore the city.
Table Mountain Hike: What better way to finish our trek but to climb the famous landmark of Table Mountain which towers over Cape Town. The views from here are breathtaking and a real reason to celebrate!
Cape Town: Depending on departure times there will be free time before we transfer to the airport and wave goodbye to South Africa.
