Climbing Kilimanjaro
The Machame route allows for gradual acclimatisation to the altitude passing through thick forest, moorland and scree en route to Uhuru Peak, the highest
point of Africa's tallest mountain.
The Machame route retains a sense of untouched wilderness lost on the crowded Marangu and Machame trails.
It has a relatively gentle gradient and short daily stages as it winds its way from the starting point just south of the Kenya-Tanzania border.
African wildlife
There are magnificent views over the Amboseli Plains and genuine possibilities for wildlife viewing.
With an extra day spent ascending the mountain compared to many routes, this is a great choice for trekkers wanting more time to acclimatise to the altitude.

Although the trip will be tough, the sense of achievement will make it all worthwhile.
