Fundraising Ideas - Theme Night

Carla from North London held a theme night at her local night-club and raised £500.

A great opportunity to get all your friends, family and colleagues together - get down and boogie, strut your stuff and raise money for your challenge at the same time.

  • Ask your local night-club if they can allocate you a date to hold your fundraising disco night. Clubs and disco venues can often be more accommodating for midweek functions because they are not so busy.
  • If the owner won’t let you have the venue for free, see if you can arrange with them that just 50p or £1 from every ticket purchased at the door goes towards your fundraising.
  • To add interest to your disco or club night you could base it around a particular theme … 70’s night, school uniform, country and western – the list is endless!  This also gives people the opportunity to dress up. How about offering a prize for the best fancy dress?

This is also a great opportunity to approach your local press to advertise your disco night and your cause (a picture always helps!).  Make sure you include the location, cost, date and time of your disco in the paper and add your contact details just in case readers would like to donate some additional money or come along – you never know!
